Why choose Sedation Dentistry?
Candidates for sedation dentistry are patients with a fear of needles or other dental anxiety, as well as individuals who require complex treatment and would like their treatment performed during a single, pain-free visit.
Some patients (including children) have a natural fear of the dentist, while others have had a traumatic dental experience in their past that has made them reluctant to seek treatment again. Many patients find their anxiety is eased when they undergo procedures while in a sleep-like state.
What procedures can I have performed with Sedation Dentistry?
Any dental procedure can be performed under sedation from the smallest everyday procedures to the most complex dental work.
How the Sedation Process administered?
Aesthetic Care of NJ and Dr. Strauss specialize in IV Sedation. "Intravenous" meaning that the drug is put into a vein. An extremely thin needle is put into a vein close to the surface of the skin in either the arm or the back of your hand. This needle is wrapped up with a soft plastic tube. The needle makes the entry into the vein and is slid out leaving the soft plastic tube in place. The drug is placed in through that tube which stays in place throughout the procedure.
What are the after effects of Sedation Dentistry?
You awaken to a new smile with no pain. Most patients don't remember anything from the procedure. Call Dr. Strauss now at (973) 227-8998.
