77 WABC sold to Red Apple Media Group and John Catsimatidis

NEW YORK (77 WABC) – Red Apple Media, a subsidiary of Red Apple Group, and its chairman John Catsimatidis has agreed to purchase New York radio station 77 WABC-AM from Cumulus Media, Inc. Catsimatidis’ Red Apple Group’s holdings currently consists of supermarkets, real estate, diverse holdings in the energy industry and soon to be added New York’s Talkradio 77 WABC.

Cumulus had acquired 77 WABC from Citadel Broadcasting in 2011. They recently sold 94.7 NASH-FM to Entercom and 95.5 WPLJ-FM to EMF.

Red Apple’s acquisition of WABC is scheduled to close in the next 60-90 days.
