Runners race up Empire State Building

A long way to the top: World-class runners race the stairs of the Empire State Building

Runners were definitely looking up when they raced through one of one of the city's most iconic landmarks on Wednesday evening. More than 200 people from around the world raced up 86 stories in the 41st Annual Empire State Building Run-Up. That's nearly 1,600 steps and a vertical distance of approximately a fifth of a mile.
